Hello my lovely readers. I am currently a little bit stressed out for the upcoming college year. I really want to succeed and do well in all my classes, but I'm starting to feel overwhelmed before the year has even started. I know I'm just going to have to take it one step at a time. I'm going to make it work. I have to make it work.
That's besides the point of this post. I just wanted to share that with you guys. Anyways, this post is a Types of People post which I know you guys like to read. Of course since I just came back from India I wanted to tie the two together. Before I get into these types of people I feel like you should get a little background of what Indian Clothing Stores are like.
Stores in India are quite different than ones here. Here you can go to any mall or store and look for items for hours on end, trying them on in your own time, etc. In India, the stores function a bit differently. There are levels of a store that are divided into categories of clothing. On one floor there could be Western/American clothing while on another they'll have kurtis and saris. After you decide a type of clothing your looking for an arrive there, there are at least 4 or 5 people on that floor ready to show you pieces of clothing that you will like. Obviously they're being good salespeople in that sense. They basically take out pieces one at a time and show them to you and then you can decide what you like enough to try on. Hopefully you can visualize this as I get into the Types of People you can find here.
1. The Hospitable Host: Now this is usually the person in charge of the store or is at some degree higher in the business hierarchy than the people showing you clothes. This person makes sure you are tension free while trying to find you the best pieces and best service. That means he will order cold drinks, chai, water, and literally anything else you need to make sure you're having a good time at his store. The people are kind and have friendly personalities that you can't help but just love.
2. Excessive Showcaser: This person, usually a guy has an endless amount of time and energy on his hands. He could literally show you any type of clothing you want to see for hours and hours on end. He will continue to show you clothes until you get sick of looking at them and tell him/her to stop. At some point you start feeling bad that you don't like any clothes, but this guy doesn't get discouraged and continues to pull pieces. I give him props. That takes a lot of patience.
3. The Creehelpers: These are again usually guys at this store who are supposed to be helping fold and put clothes away, but as they're doing this just continue to stare at you for an uncomfortably long time. Not to be stereotypical, but this is the case with many guys in India, although that's another topic altogether. This guy will jump at the chance to stay in the same area as you and will basically fold and quietly observe. *shudders*
4. The Suckup Aunty: Now this might sound like it has a bad ring to it, but it's not necessarily all that bad. This is the person who after you try each piece of clothing tell you how amazing, brilliant, beautiful, etc. the gown looks on you. At first it's really flattering and you feel good, but once you get to the 6th piece of clothing you kind of get over that. Also, depending what store you are, if you cross a store to the changing room and you're wearing a gown or suit, literally everyone on the floor will stare at you. Which can be good or bad depending on if you like the attention, lol.
I hope you guys enjoyed this post! I'm trying me best to keep up with a variety of posts so you guys don't get bored with the same content. Let me know in the comments what your favorite types of posts are to read! Then I'll know what kind of content all of you want to see. Until next time.
Stay young, stay beautiful, and keep shopping ;)
